Alternative Accomodation In Amsterdam

Alternative Amsterdam Accommodation

When you are planning a visit to Amsterdam, instead of booking a hotel, why not try something different? There are many reasons to find other alternatives. Hotels are expensive, no matter where you go. They charge by the day, and can be crowded, especially if you are traveling as a group, or with your family. There is usually just one bathroom that you have to fight over, and everyone is sleeping in basically the same area, so there is little to no privacy. While some hotels offer a continental breakfast, and may even have a restaurant on site, you still have to pay for the restaurants, and worry how you will eat the rest of the day.

While there are alternatives to hotels like bed and breakfasts, as well as a number of hostels, these are geared towards couples and single people. For a truly different experience, the other alternative is a holiday apartment, or short term apartment accommodations. What is a holiday apartment? Probably the new wave in accommodation on foreign soil.

As the name implies, holiday apartments are flats that are located throughout Amsterdam. They have separate bathrooms, some with more than one. There are also separate bedrooms, so you can put the kids down for bed at a reasonable time, or have some privacy for yourself. These apartments can be studios, as well as up to three or four bedrooms, depending on the company offering them. Perhaps on of the most important aspects of a short term apartment is that they are equipped with their own fully stocked kitchens. These kitchens have coffee makers, a refrigerator, stove and even an oven in some units. The apartment also has dishes and cooking utensils. About the only thing they don't have is food, but what better way to really get in touch with the culture and people of this wonderful city than by shopping in local markets and stores?

In many cases, these apartments in Amsterdam have the same amenities that standard hotels have. All the towels and bed linens are included. There can be DVD players, televisions, and radios. Some may have balconies, or roof top patios. Many are located in central locations around the city, the historical district, red light district, with many attractions at your door step. In addition, many of these are also located near public transportation, and a few may even have private parking.

One of the best parts of these apartments is that instead of paying for them by the night, you pay for the duration of your stay, from a week end or more, depending on how long you wish to stay and play. Let's say for an example that you are visiting for three days. Normally, a hotel may cost you a hundred Euros or more each day, this adds up to about three or four hundred. A holiday apartment may cost a hundred Euros less, and you get so much more.

With all the things to do in and around Amsterdam, from the museums, the night life, and so much more, the last things you need to worry about is spending almost all of your budget on a hotel and food. With a holiday apartment, you can save up to half, and use this money for other things.
